About Me – Sharna Emerson
Hi, I’m Sharna Emerson, and for 17 incredible years, I’ve had the privilege of making a real difference in people’s lives.
From relieving pain and discomfort to improving movement and overall quality of life, I’ve worked with everyone, from babies to the elderly, and everyone in between. I do have a special place in my heart for those with special needs!
My journey with the EMMETT Technique began in 2010, and it truly changed our family’s life. As a concerned mother, I sought help for my son, who was experiencing severe leg cramps every night. The results were nothing short of amazing!
Over time, we continued to witness many more “wow” moments. With a list of medical challenges, including a VP shunt, 14 brain surgeries, seizures, developmental delays, and behavioural issues, seeing the improvements was beyond words. Watching my son’s life improve in such a short time felt incredibly rewarding.
This inspired me to pursue training in the EMMETT Technique, starting with the short Emm-Tech course. The possibilities this technique opened up were so exciting, so I decided to take my learning further and become a practitioner. Over 11 years later, I’m now an EMM-Tech Tutor Instructor and a Dog Course Instructor. It’s an absolute privilege to share the life-changing benefits of the EMMETT Technique with others.
With over 17 years of experience, I’m proud to serve the Whitsundays region through my practice: Combined Therapies – Sharna Emerson. The EMMETT Technique has become internationally recognised and is now taught in over 38 countries.
I’ve had the privilege of learning directly from Ross Emmett, the founder of the EMMETT Technique, which allows me to treat and teach with a deep, compassionate understanding of how the technique works.
My Passion
My passion is to help people move better, feel better, and improve their quality of life. I’ve worked with a wide range of clients throughout my career, including:

- Support for cancer patients, including recovery and post-treatment care
- Bladder issues across all ages

The Chameleon Approach to Body Therapies
As an EMMETT Practitioner, I believe in the “Chameleon Approach.” This means adapting my treatments to suit the unique needs and beliefs of each client. It’s about understanding you, assessing your needs, and tailoring the treatment accordingly. Every client is different, and this approach ensures that I can offer the most personalised and effective care possible.

How It Works
The EMMETT Technique focuses on the body’s response to light touch. Think of it like how a touch screen works—small sensors allow the therapist’s touch to access the brain. These points not only influence muscle action but may also carry emotional and memory-related attachments. The results speak for themselves: the body’s natural healing process is enhanced, leading to better movement, relief, and well-being.
Symptoms Relieved by the EMMETT Technique:
- Lymphatic congestion and breathing issues
- Migraines or cluster headaches
- Abdominal cramps and bowel discomfort
- Persistent heel and foot pain
- Headaches, dizziness, and sinus congestion
- Back and hip discomfort
- Knee and ankle restrictions
- Discomfort during pregnancy
Fluid retention - Sport injuries
